Clive Wears

Clive Wears started playing piano semi-professionally in hotels in his hometown of Kettering in Northamptonshire in 1990 when he was just 18. He soon became a regular fixture at several local venues in the area.

Piano After completing his compulsory education at Bishop Stopford School he moved to London to study music at one of the world-renowned conservatories, Trinity College of Music. Whilst studying for a degree at Trinity he was resident pianist at various 5* hotels. His degree allowed him to work with some of the greatest musicians in Britain including jazz musicians Bobby Lamb and Don Lusher with whom he has recorded various CDs. During this time Clive also performed with the Young Musician’s Symphony Orchestra and Trinity College Big Band.

Throughout his career he has toured extensively abroad encompassing Europe and USA including performing in front of over 25,000 people in USB Park, San Francisco and to celebrities from the worlds of film and music.

Clive is a percussionist with the famous GUS brass band, with whom he regularly performs at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, London and the Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

After ten years as Director of Music at Deacon’s School, Peterborough, he is now Director of Music at Montsaye Community College, Rothwell.

Clive also has a Masters degree in Music from London University as well as a PGCE from Cambridge University.

Hotel Civil Wedding Ceremonies

With Civil Wedding Ceremonies becoming increasingly popular with wedding couples, the addition of live music before and during the ceremony will help give your wedding service an extra dimension. Tailor the music to be played to suit your personal taste by choosing your favourite songs to be played as your guests await the arrival of the bride. We can help you decide upon music suitable for the bride's arrival and the bride and groom's departure from the ceremony room as well as 2/3 pieces to be played during the signing of the register. Religious music is not allowed to be played before or during the Civil Ceremony but that leaves just about every other type of music to choose from. You may have specific pieces of music in mind which are favourites or which have a special significance for you. The song list featured on this site may help you decide upon suitable music. It's often possible to request music which isn't listed, don't hesitate to call me with your suggestions.

Champagne Drinks Reception

Following your wedding ceremony, your guests may congregate to celebrate with a glass of champagne at your Drinks Reception. Having piano music played during this part of the celebrations is very popular and helps set a congenial atmosphere as your guests chat away in the period leading up to the Wedding Breakfast. In this informal setting, your guests might like to request their favourite songs to be played. On average, the piano would be played for around an hour or so.

Wedding Breakfast

The inclusion of background piano music during the Wedding Breakfast always creates a great atmosphere among the wedding party. If you're having a receiving line, the piano playing will begin as your guests enter the room and will continue throughout the meal and cutting of the cake until speeches. A wide variety of different songs is usually played to suit the bride and groom and to satisfy the different tastes and age ranges present. The piano would be played for around two hours throughout the meal until speeches.
